Anti Packet Loss System

In order to prevent packet loss and high latency during the gaming experience, we have deployed a system that we call Anti-Loss Tool (ALT) that monitors all broadband capacity to ensure that no part of the network is being saturated.

If the monitoring systems determine that a part of the broadband network is about to become overloaded, a sample average of usage over the last five minutes from that part of the network is used to decide how to control packet loss; within a short period of time this measure is deployed.

All ISP networks are subject to an occasional slowdown, but the skilful art of balance loading and capacity upgrades can help to control this. The Aquiss core network is consistently upgraded, often ahead of requirements, that ensures only the finest gaming experience.

Understanding Peak Usage and Off-Peak Usage

We split the week into 2 periods based when we know usage on the network is and is not taking place. This allows us to control the Quality of Service (QoS) that you receive to a very high standard. It also ensures that no customer can abuse the network by offering a "fair for all" approach.

Peak Usage Period is 8.00am until 9.59pm Monday to Friday
Off-Peak Usage Period is 10.00pm until 7.59am Monday to Friday and All-Day Weekends.

During the Off-Peak period, because the network is vastly more empty, we are able to provide every customer a free bonus top-up without using up your main peak monthly usage. An example of using this bonus could be to schedule Windows Updates, Sky by Broadband downloads or similar which are generally quite large. Overall more value for your money.

What speed will my line support?

* This is totally dependant on how far you are from your local exchange and the conditions of your telephone line. However, upon receiving your order, we will automatically attempt to activate your BT telephone line at the fastest possible speed, up to 8Mbps.

In the event of this speed not been established, your line will be enabled at the highest speed available. Therefore you may get a line speed of 4.5Mbps or 6.5Mbps for example. In any event will we attempt to enable your line.

Broadband speeds on an individual line is governed by a wide range of physical factors. BT estimates that 78 per cent of BT phone lines should support broadband at line rates of 4Mbit/s and above, with 6Mbit/s and above available to more than 42 per cent. For those living or working close to their local telephone exchange, line rates of up to the maximum 8Mbit/s should be achievable.
