Peering and Latency Information
Gamers will enjoy only the very best
gaming performance with Aquiss thanks to our direct peering and
close network links. A selection of major UK and European gaming
networks are listed below with an average performances obtained
via testing¹. |
| |
|
 |
|
 |
Region 1 |
 |
Region 2 |
 |
Region 3 |
Region 1: Connections from England
but excluding South-West and North England (eg: cumbria)
Region 2: Connections from Wales, South-West England and
North England
Region 3: Connections from Scotland and Northern Ireland
¹The above average samples were taken in
June 2008, from 67 broadband connections located in various areas of
the UK to give a fairer sample. All lines were operating in FAST
Path mode and response times were from public server addresses
available on each gaming network web sites.

Anti Packet Loss System
In order to prevent packet loss and high
latency during the gaming experience, we have deployed a system
that we call Anti-Loss Tool (ALT) that monitors all broadband
capacity to ensure that no part of the network is being
saturated.
If the monitoring systems determine that a part of the broadband
network is about to become overloaded, a sample average of usage
over the last five minutes from that part of the network is used
to decide how to control packet loss; within a short period of
time this
measure is deployed.
All ISP networks are subject to an occasional slowdown, but the
skilful art of balance loading and capacity upgrades can help
to control this. The Aquiss core network is consistently upgraded,
often ahead of requirements, that ensures only the finest gaming
experience.

Understanding Peak Usage and Off-Peak Usage
We have split each day into two distinct usage periods (Peak and
Off-Peak). This allows us
to control the Quality of Service (QoS) that you receive to be
of only the highest standard; and offer a "fair for all" approach
across the package range.
Peak Usage Period
is 08:00am until 23:59pm daily
Off-Peak Usage Period
is 00:00am (midnight) until 07:59am
daily
During the Off-Peak period our network is
generally empty, therefore we are able to provide every customer a free
usage period without using up your main peak
monthly usage. An example of using this bonus could be to
schedule Windows Updates, Sky by Broadband downloads or similar
which are generally quite large. Overall more value for your
money.

|
Exceeding Allowances Advisory
If you go over your agreed peak allowance you will still be able
to access the Internet for an additional period of time.
However, both peak and off-peak speeds will be reduced to a
maximum of 128 kbps at all times, along with a maximum extra
allowance of 1 GB beyond your agreed allowance to use in cases
of emergency.
If the exceeding of an allowance takes place you can continue at
the reduced speed until the usage resets itself, based on your
billing date, or purchase an allowance top-up at any time.
Top-Up Allowances, if purchased, last until it has been used up,
irrespective of how long it takes to use them. In other words,
as long as you remain a customer, any portion of the bandwidth
top-up that remains at the end of each month will be available
for use the next month and so on. |
|
Available Payment Options
Payments can be made securely via our
e-billing platform using a wide range of payment options. These
include Visa, Visa Delta, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Maestro,
Switch, Solo and Amex. You can also use PayPal.

Please Note : Please be advised that payments via AMEX
can be subject to extra handling charges imposed by AMEX directly.

What speed will my line
support?
* The maximum speed you will received is
dependant on a mixture of how far you are from your local
telephone exchange and the conditions of your telephone line.
However, just like up to 8Mbps products, we will automatically
attempt to activate services at the fastest possible speeds, up
to 24Mbps via the use of ADSL2+ technology. If your
exchange is yet to be enabled with ADSL2+ technology, we
will enable your line up to 8Mbps via ADSL technology,
and upgrade the line as soon as upgrades are completed.
In all cases we will provide you with an estimated speed that
your line will support prior to agreeing a contract with
ourselves, however the graph below will give you a quick
estimate by using your present "Line Attenuation" figure as
a
starting reference.

In the event that 24Mbps can not be established, your line will
automatically connect itself at the highest speed available, up
to a maximum of 24Mbps. In any event your line will be enabled,
with a worst case situation of a 135k connection for extremely
long lines from your BT exchange.
